Description
Genetics and hubris. Conceptual image using sculptures of the double helix molecule of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) in a representation of the ruins in Ancient Egypt that inspired the poem 'Ozymandias' (1818) by Percy Shelley. This poem describes the ruins of a statue in the desert, with the head lying beside the remnants of the statue's legs. The poem is describing the hubris of the rulers of mighty empires who think that their monuments will last forever. DNA contains the genetic code that varies between different organisms, producing different body structures and chemistry.
